BILLING

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Two-month start for new memberships, then simple month-to-month billing. No long-term lock-in after the initial commitment.

Effective date: September 19, 2026

Monthly membership

The standard membership is $210 per monthly service period, charged in advance, unless another price is agreed in writing.

Two-month initial commitment

A new membership starts with two consecutive monthly service periods. The minimum initial commitment is $420 total, billed as $210 at activation and $210 on the next monthly billing date. A cancellation request may be submitted during these first two months, but the second monthly payment remains part of the initial commitment and service continues through the second paid service period.

After the first two months

Beginning with the third monthly service period, the membership continues month to month. To stop the next renewal, email help@checkmatecollege.com before the next billing date. There is no additional cancellation notice period after the initial commitment.

Checkmate College → Checkmate College

If an active Checkmate College membership continues directly into Checkmate College without ending, the two-month initial commitment does not restart. An ended membership that is later restarted may be subject to the current enrollment terms disclosed before reactivation.

Break, summer, pause, and billing are separate

The Board may show service states such as Break / Summer, Paused, Cancelling, Ended, or Restarting so the student and teammate know what is happening operationally. Changing an in-app service state does not itself stop or restart Stripe billing. A billing change must be handled through the applicable billing or cancellation process.

Current billing period

Cancellation stops future renewal. It does not retroactively refund services already billed or delivered, or a monthly service period that has already begun, except where required by law or expressly agreed in writing.

Team Huddles, late changes, and grace

The membership guarantees two scheduled 30 minute Zoom Team Huddles during each monthly service period. Students should give at least 12 hours’ notice whenever reasonably possible for cancellations or rescheduling. A proper reschedule does not use another Team Huddle, and a cancellation with at least 12 hours’ notice returns the Team Huddle to the Student for that service period. Checkmate College generally gives reasonable grace for an occasional late cancellation. Repeated late cancellations or a missed Team Huddle without notice may count toward the allowance. If Checkmate College changes the appointment, it never counts against the Student. Genuine emergencies or unusual circumstances may receive additional grace. If something important genuinely needs more live time, the Student may request an additional Team Huddle. Checkmate College may approve one additional 30 minute Team Huddle for that monthly service period, subject to availability and at no additional charge. Extra Team Huddles are need-based and do not automatically roll over or become part of the recurring monthly entitlement. Unused guaranteed appointments do not automatically roll over into future months unless Checkmate College agrees in writing.

Returning later

When operationally possible, a former student can restart with the same account and preserved history rather than creating a new account. Restarting service may require a new or reactivated membership payment arrangement.

Refunds

If you believe a charge is incorrect, email help@checkmatecollege.com. Checkmate College will correct duplicate or clearly erroneous charges and will handle other refund requests under the Client Services Agreement and applicable law.

Changes to pricing

If pricing changes for an existing customer, Checkmate College will provide notice as required by the service agreement and applicable law before a new price is charged.
